How to play MelonDrop

A quick guide to dropping, merging, comboing, and sending attacks.

Objective

Drop fruits into the basket and combine same-tier pairs to climb the fruit ladder. The end goal is the Cosmic Melon — the rainbow top tier that only appears when two Watermelons merge. Don't let the basket overflow above the danger line; if a settled fruit's top stays above that line for a quarter second, the run ends.

Controls

Merging and the fruit ladder

Two fruits of the same tier touch and combine into the next tier. The progression: Blueberry → Strawberry → Plum → Apple → Pear → Grapefruit → Cantaloupe → Pineapple → Watermelon → Cosmic Melon. Bigger merges award more points.

Combos

If a merge happens within a short window of the previous merge, it counts as a combo. Combos multiply your score and, in PvP modes, fire an attack at your opponent based on the chain's peak length. Plan drops so a single placement triggers a cascade of merges underneath.

Powerups and special fruits

Wonderfruit (the rainbow ball) and Treasure Package (the gold box) sometimes appear during a run. Hit them with another fruit to consume them and roll a random powerup — score bursts, a free fruit gift, a merge-boost buff, or a fresh preview reroll.

PvP and attacks

Best-of-three matches against another player or a CPU opponent. Combos send attacks: Poke, Barrage, and Storm fire automatically; Crush, Jumble, and Earthquake sit in your side queue waiting for you to tap and play them. Birthing a Watermelon launches the heavy CRUSH attack. Manage your queue — you can only hold three special cards at once.

Cascade mode

Solo Cascade adds a rising-pressure twist. The danger line slowly creeps down over time, hazards fire on a director, and the score multiplier climbs from 1.0× up to 1.75× as the pressure level escalates. Combos push the line back down a little, so chaining well is your relief valve.
